Overview

Reefer Monitoring System is a wireless telemetry & alarm platform for refrigerated containers in port yards, on vessels and on the road. It plugs into the reefer machinery interface (or attaches as a standalone IoT gateway), streams setpoint, supply and return temperatures, defrost cycles and power events to the cloud, and pages reefer technicians the moment anything drifts.

Built for ocean carriers, port operators, 3PLs and pharma cold-chain shippers that need audit-grade cold-chain evidence, faster response to power-loss events, and a single dashboard across hundreds of boxes regardless of make (Carrier, Thermo King, Daikin, Star Cool).

How It Works

  1. Reefer container — the IoT gateway connects to the chiller via Reefer PIN, Modbus or a clamp-on probe set. It reads setpoint, supply, return, defrost state, compressor run-time, and door status. A local LCD echoes the readings.
  2. Refrigeration logic — an edge state-machine tracks the COOLING / IDLE / DEFROST / ALARM cycle, runs threshold rules (Δ supply > 2 °C, power loss, door open > 5 min) and fires local alarms even when WAN is down.
  3. Cold-chain cloud — ingests every event, plots fleet temperature distribution, computes SLA compliance, and runs AI drift detection for slow-failing units.
  4. Reefer tech pages — on-shift technicians get push, SMS, email and yard-radio alerts with block / row / tier location and a one-tap GO button that updates the yard map.

The purple feedback loop carries acknowledgements, remote setpoint changes and defrost overrides back down to each reefer.
