Overview

Overview

SGT Fuel Level Sensor is an ultrasonic or capacitive tank-level sensor with anti-siphon analytics — continuous fuel level, refill / theft / low-level events, reconciliation reports, and a dispatch dashboard. Installs on diesel tanks of trucks, buses, generators and bulk storage.

Built for fleet owners and contractors who suspect (or know) fuel is being siphoned, mis-filled or misreported. The system typically pays for itself in 6-12 weeks by exposing theft, blocking false refill claims, and giving accountants a clean variance number.

  • Continuous level — ultrasonic ±1% accuracy, 10-30 s sampling
  • Theft detection — AI correlates level drops with GPS + ignition state
  • Refill validation — flags claimed refills that don’t match tank-level rise
  • Reconciliation reports — weekly PDF with issued vs consumed vs variance

How It Works

  1. Sense — an ultrasonic sensor mounted on top of the tank measures liquid surface distance; a capacitive variant is available for irregular tanks.
  2. Stream — level + temperature samples flow to the GPS tracker (paired) or directly over LTE-M to the cloud.
  3. Detect — edge rules flag (a) refills > 5% in 60 s, (b) drops > 3% with engine OFF (siphon), (c) low-fuel warnings, (d) economy drift.
  4. Report — events appear in real time; weekly reconciliation PDF shows issued vs consumed with cost-per-litre impact.

Features

  • Multi-tank support — diesel, petrol, AdBlue, lube oil; mixed fuels per vehicle
  • Anti-siphon AI — GPS + ignition + level fusion; < 4% false positives
  • Refill validation — auto-matches refill events to fuel-card transactions
  • Low-fuel alerts — configurable threshold, dispatch + driver app
  • Driver scorecard fuel — L/100 km per driver and per route
  • Reconciliation PDF — weekly / monthly, signed and time-stamped
  • Pair with tracker — works with our GPS Fleet Tracker out of the box
  • Open API — REST + webhook to ERP, fuel-card portal, accounting

Use Cases

  • Long-haul trucking — biggest siphon target; per-trip variance reporting
  • Bus & coach fleets — fixed routes, predictable economy, easy variance detection
  • Generator monitoring — site-yard gensets often filled by contractors; tank-level audit
  • Construction equipment — bulldozers and excavators in remote sites
  • Bulk fuel storage — depot tanks with multiple draw events per day
  • School / corporate transport — third-party drivers, expense control
