Overview
SGT OBD-II Dongle is a plug-and-play diagnostic dongle that taps into a vehicle’s OBD-II port to read live engine data (RPM, speed, coolant, MAF, throttle, fuel), DTC fault codes, trip-by-trip fuel economy and odometer — streaming over Bluetooth to a smartphone and/or cellular to the cloud.
Built for workshops, fleet managers and owner-operators who want a quick, non-invasive view into vehicle health — no wiring, no installer needed. Plug it in, pair the app, and within 60 seconds you’re reading live PIDs and fault codes.
- Plug-and-play — installs in 60 seconds, no wiring
- Live PIDs — RPM, speed, coolant, throttle, MAF, O2, fuel rate and 50+ more
- DTC scan & clear — read fault codes with description; clear after repair
- Cellular or BLE — phone-paired for owners, cellular for fleets
How It Works
- Plug — the dongle slots into the OBD-II port (driver footwell on most vehicles).
- Power — it draws power from the port, boots in < 5 s, status LEDs confirm CAN handshake.
- Stream — the dongle polls PIDs every 1-5 s and forwards over BLE to a phone app or LTE to the cloud.
- Analyze — the cloud builds trip logs, fuel-economy trends, DTC history; AI predicts service due based on usage.
Features
- Live engine data — 50+ standard PIDs; manufacturer-specific PIDs on supported makes
- DTC management — read, decode, clear; history with timestamps and trip context
- Trip log — start/end address, distance, duration, fuel, max speed, idle time
- Fuel economy — calculated and CAN-reported L/100 km, weekly / monthly trends
- Service reminder — distance-based, time-based, or AI-predicted
- Geo-location — phone GPS or cellular-side tower triangulation for fleet variant
- Multi-driver — driver-app pairing identifies the trip owner
- Open data export — CSV, JSON, REST for workshop / fleet software integration
Use Cases
- Workshop diagnostics — quick scan on intake, before/after repair comparison
- Owner-operator — see fault before the MIL lamp scares the customer
- Small fleet — 5-50 vehicles where full telematics is overkill
- Driver training / scorecard — combine PIDs + GPS for harsh-event detection
- Insurance UBI — usage-based insurance with mileage and driving-style data
- EV / hybrid monitoring — supports OBD-II PIDs on most EVs (battery SoC, temp)
